I’m traveling this week so I have an awesome guest post for you today from a sweet gal I just recently started following. Her blog is about running, healthy living, etc. She’s been an inspiration to me in this very short time so please be sure to welcome her as she shares some great tips with us.
Hello! This is Monica from Run,Eat,Repeat. If you can’t tell from my blog name – I love running so I thought it only appropriate to share some of my favorite running tips. Here they go:
- 1. Don’t start off too fast. When we were kids every time we ran it was full out as fast as our little lungs could take us! But, that makes you burn out too fast. Make sure you start off slow – you can speed up your pace if you’re feeling good. That’s better than stopping because you’re out of breath.
- 2. There is nothing wrong with walking breaks. Even while I was training for my last marathon I would take a walk break or two during my longer runs. I used to feel like a failure until I remembered – Running is hard!
- 3. Sign up for a race! 5k, 10k, Half, Marathon – it doesn’t matter the distance, but signing up for a race means you have to get out there and run.
- 4. Think of yourself as an athlete. If you’re running you need to eat well and rest enough. Treat your body like an athlete and take care of it.
Monica, thank you so much for taking over my Friday Tip for today. It couldn’t have come at a better time especially since hubby and I are going to start training for a 1/2 marathon. In just a few days, I’ll be finished with my 3rd week of running and I’m really struggling. We are going to actually train for and do a 5k first and possibly a 10k before the 1/2 marathon in December. I have a long way to go!
Question to my readers:
Have you ever run a race? 5k, 10k, 1/2 marathon, marathon, etc.

Can I just do a cross stitch marathon instead? Just saying the word run hurts my legs and my butt.

Great guest post! 😀 Hope your shins are feeling better.
The farthest I’ve done is a 1/2 marathon – but it was walking, not running!
5k’s are about the limit distance wise when running.

Congratulations you have got out the door and off the couch of doom, keep at it and before you know it, you will hurt more when you can’t go for a run ( you will know what I mean when you get there)
I am training for a 100k adventure race consisting of swim, run, bike, and kayak. At least on this side of the world I am not having to train in the snow

So behind on replying here, I apologize!
Ha ha Loretta, only you! Biz, at the rate I’m going I won’t be able to run a 5k anytime soon but I am sure going to try.
Wattzupsport I can’t wait to read more on your blog. Thanks for taking the time to visit here. I am in awe of what you are going to accomplish. You go! What an inspiration.
