So usually on Sunday’s you would see my daily exercise log but since I only worked out on Saturday, there is not much to tell you. Kev and I went to spin class (1:09 burning 1044 calories). I was doing OK with regards to my back until about 10 minutes before end of class when it started hurting again. Today it is much worse! Will just have to let it play out.
But on to the great news…
On the way home from the gym yesterday, I wanted to stop by the Fitness Factory Outlet store just to get an idea as to what we needed to save up for and to dream a little about our future home gym. Needless to say, there were some deals that were too good to pass up so we started the process of purchasing two spin bikes and a treadmill. We have been having fun designing a home gym. Garage space (one car size) is what we have to work with. We picked up the two spin bikes today and the treadmill will be delivered later this week. I am so excited!
This means that there will no longer be a gym membership. I am OK with it but I will miss the opportunity to use the weights, BOSU, TRX, boxing bag and other cool equipment. The fitness classes will be missed as well BUT we are going to make up our own and stick to a workout schedule here at home. We will spin, do Pilates, Yoga, boxing and other fun workouts. I am most excited that I don’t have to drive 35 minutes ONE way to get in a workout. Obviously we will have another month to pay for the gym so we will keep going to spin classes until that is up.
So back to designing a home gym! We have a lot of work to do. This week we need to clear out and organize a monstrosity of a mess. Once we have the home gym garage set up (or at least partially put together), I’ll share before, during and after pictures. We have talked about painting it (color AND chalk board paint), adding lights, possible garage door screen, screen door for the back entry and we’ll need fans too for air movement. The floors are concrete right now so we just bought blue multi-purpose mats (see below) but only enough for my personal workout space for when I do my workout DVD’s and boxing. If we like them, we’ll probably order enough later down the road to cover the whole garage floor.
Here is some other fitness equipment I dream about having in our home gym:
- Rowing machine
- Recumbent bike
- Vertical knee raise
- Deluxe home gym
- Multi-functional trainer
- A nice set of weights
- Boxing equipment (hanging bag, B.O.B, etc.)
- Power Plate Vibrating Machine & Massager
And the list goes on!
I never imagined this would happen so fast. I cannot wait to get it all set up. Hoping we can figure out a way to go buy a shed to put all Kev’s tools, the lawn mower and other stuff in so we can get this all done NOW. It will be so much fun fixing up this home gym garage space.
Do you have a home gym? Any tips/recommendations?
