Welcome again to Fit & Healthy Friday Tips.
Today’s Tip: Whole Grains
Experts recommend at least 3 servings of whole grains a day. Are you getting enough? I try to make sure I make healthier choices when it comes to whole grains. Some of the things I have done are change from white bread, rolls, pancakes and rice to whole grain or 100% whole wheat. My favorite switch has been going from regular pasta to whole grain. I personally like the whole wheat pasta but hubby doesn’t so we just stick to whole grain.
Foods with whole grains have many health benefits. They can help manage your weight and help reduce risk of diabetes and cancer. Be sure to take a quick look at the list of product ingredients to see if whole grains is listed towards the top.
At the Whole Grains Council you can learn more about whole grains and their health benefits. You will also find recipes and other resources there as well. I think I might try their Grilled Quinoa Cakes. This year we tried quinoa for the first time and I really like it.
Do you eat enough whole grains? What are some of the ways you add whole grains to your day?

The family and I are a whole-grain family now. How I personally get in my 3 servings are with oatmeal in the morning, a slice of bread or brown rice or pasta in the afternoon, and the same in the evening if I can get it in before 6…….I try to limit the carbs in the evening 🙂 I prefer whole wheat to white now. I am careful with portions because it’s easy to overdo it!

It was awesome.

I love quinoa! Thanks for the link to the grilled quinoa cakes, they sound delish. My other favorite grain that never gets enough attention is barley. I think I need to post some barley recipes this year.
