Today’s tip comes from my personal experience this past week. I learned how to get out of my comfort zone big time. For quite some time (OK 2 years ha ha), I really wanted to do video on my blog but I just couldn’t get past the fear. Just thinking about it made me sick, I was a mess! As many will tell you on my business trip this past week, it was a huge struggle and a big obstacle for me to overcome. BUT I did it! And here are some tips on how to get out of your comfort zone. Later I will point you in the direction to one (yep, I did more than 1 whoo hoo) of the videos I did over the weekend.
Today’s Tip: How to get out of your comfort zone
It really is simple to get out of your comfort zone if you have the support of others, a desire to succeed and you believe in yourself. The only way to get out of your comfort zone is to just go for it. Choose the ONE thing that really overwhelms you every time you think about it and set a goal to achieve it on a certain date preferably when you’ll be with a big group of people who know about it so they can give you that extra nudge you need.
I knew before I even went to the business conference that this was one of the big obstacles I wanted to overcome and what better weekend to do it than one where there was such a great support system AND people there who have been doing video for a long time. Why not enlist in their help and overcome this big struggle I was having so I could just move on.
The feeling you’ll get after stepping out of your comfort zone is one that is scary and exciting all at the same time. Don’t be afraid to ask for help! There are so many amazing people out there who are willing to help you step out of your comfort zone too so just GO FOR IT!
Do you want to see my video? If so, head on over to my friend Scott’s blog and read his post from yesterday, Have You Stepped Outside of Your Comfort Zone Lately?
It’s still hard to watch myself on video but hopefully I’ll get better at it as I go along. My goal is to have a total of 10 videos out on the web by August when I return to the same business conference. I currently have 5 videos done, so only 6 to go.
Do you have an obstacle to overcome and need to get out of your comfort zone?
Please share with us if you feel comfortable. The first steps for me was to write it down, tell someone (or many people) about it and pick a date to overcome it. Let us know how we can help you!
P.S. I really want to give everyone who was there to support and help me through this a great big hug. There are really a lot of people and I could list them all here but I don’t want to miss anyone so I think you all know who you are and know that I truly appreciate you.

How exciting Angie! You’re spot on in having the support team to help step out of that comfort zone. It’s so easy to make excuses. You’ve motivated me to tackle my next out of comfort zone. I just went to a networking event for the first time and it was amazing. I kept putting it off for the same reasons you’ve stated. Now, it’s time for me to follow up and meet with them one on one.

Anita, Val and Heather thank you all for also commenting.
Anita, 10 videos sounds scary to me LOL but hope I get there.
Val, I totally knew this was out of my comfort zone because just thinking about doing it made me sick, got me all worked up, I cried, etc. It was on my list and I was definitely putting it off but with so many people there that could help me overcome the fear I knew I better not let it pass me by!
Thanks Heather, with PT’s like you and Val, this world is a much better place! I can’t wait until the day I can have one here locally.
