March is National Nutrition Month and the 2010 theme is “Nutrition From The Ground Up”.

National Nutrition Month® is a nutrition education and information campaign created annually in March by the American Dietetic Association. The campaign focuses attention on the importance of making informed food choices and developing sound eating and physical activity habits. Registered Dietitian Day, also celebrated in March, increases awareness of registered dietitians as the indispensable providers of food and nutrition services and recognizes RDs for their commitment to helping people enjoy healthy lives.  source

Today’s tip: Choose one thing you will change this month when it comes to better nutrition for yourself

“Nutrition From The Ground Up” to me means eating more natural whole healthy foods.  This means focusing on eating more fruits and veggies of course but also much less to no processed foods.

I have been talking a lot lately about possibly wanting to live a more vegetarian lifestyle and I think this is the perfect month to do so.  I would like to make one healthy nutritional change in my life kind of like I did when I gave up soda almost 5 years ago or maybe giving up one item like I did with Oreo cookies that long ago.  I’m trying to think of what I struggle with the most and I’m leaning towards something having to do with dessert ha!

    Well as a vegan I’m biased 🙂 but I think you will love being a vegetarian, at least for a month!

      Hey Val, good to see you here! Feel free to share anything vegan based. I am actually intrigued by BOTH the vegetarian and vegan lifestyles. Hubby not so much but we have cut down a lot on meat so it’s a start. I would even go as far as trying to make some of the raw ‘baked’ goods I have seen in the blogosphere. They all sound and look delish!

    Oh gosh- I love dessert! But I`ll challenge myself to 1 a week. And-I am going to get those 8 glasses of water in. This is hard for me somehow…. so its a good goal.
