Personal training rocks

Disclosure: This post may contain referral/affiliate links.

Awesome 1st full week of personal training.  I have really enjoyed it and although I wish I was paying for an hour it’s only 30 min.  I have trained with two people so far and have one more tomorrow.  Then I choose a primary and secondary personal trainer to work with for the next year.

Here are my workouts for the week….

Monday-

*Elliptical
Time:  8 min.
Miles:  .61

*Personal training (lower body free weights)
Time:  30 min.

*Treadmill
Time:  45 min.
Miles:  2.66
Calories burned:  509

Run/Walk, 5 min. warm up/5 min. cool down plus 10 one minute running intervals.  After doing lower body, I felt really good doing run/walk.

Tuesday- Day Off

Wednesday-

*Elliptical
Time: 10 min. warm up
Miles: .78

*Personal Training (core/upper body)
Time:30 min.

*Spin class
Time: 1 hr.
Calories burned: 658

Thursday- Day Off

Friday-

*Elliptical
Time: 10 min. warm up
Miles: .81

*Personal Training (cardio/lower body)
Time: 30 min.
Calories burned: 370

*Treadmill
Time: 25 min.
Miles:  didn’t calculate
Calories burned: 274

Didn’t do much of a treadmill warm up because personal training was cardio and kept my HR up.  I was so exhausted that I was only able to do 3 one min. running intervals and then cool down.

Saturday-

*Walk outside
Time: 1 hr. 28 min.
Miles: 3.73
Calories burned: 550

First time using our new Garmin GPS watches and still have a lot to learn. It’s definitely a lot different from my regular heart rate monitor.  Hubby and I need to send in both of our Polar HR monitor straps to have the battery replaced.

Sunday-

*Weights (core)
Time: 35 min.

*Spin class
Time: 1 hr.
Calories burned: no stats today

Tried using Garmin inside and it didn’t work for calorie burn count.  Like I said, still have lots to learn about it.

*Mow lawn
Time: 1 hr.

Overall this week was REALLY good! I am totally exhausted but I have been feeling really good after every personal training session.  This coming week looks like I have 2 or 3 sessions and then the week after is jury duty so I’ll miss out on good workouts next week unless by chance they don’t need me…..I pray for that because the court house they want me to go to is about an hour and 30 min. ONE WAY from my house so I’ll be driving in a ton of traffic and it’s the total opposite way from the gym. I’m not happy about this at all but there is nothing I can do so can’t sweat it.

How were your workouts this week?

    Angie, you rock!

Now I understand why you are participating in the Jamaica Marathon. With so much training there is no doubt you can make it.

I noticed in you Sunday’s workout you did not warm up before the weights…or did you just forget to write that down?

Angie, are you planning to use the article I sent you?

Thank you so much, Matthew! Truly hoping that all this personal training will help me with the running. Actually no I didn’t warm up before weights on Sunday…I did core so I’m not sure what type of warm up to do before that. Of course for spin we do warm up and cool down and before my personal training sessions I make sure to warm up, guess I should be doing that before core stuff too. Didn’t even think about it.

And yes on the article, emailed you!

    Hi Angie!

I can’t much boast about my workout schedule last week, and I’m really humbled with what you accomplished. 🙂

I would love to have a personal trainer!

I’m trying to rehabilite my cranky left knee so I don’t get as much exercise I would like to.

      Satu,
Thank you! Having a personal trainer has been awesome. Today I got to choose my primary and secondary PT’s so I’m excited to just get set up with them now.

Knee issues are no fun! I used to have problems and knock on wood, they have been pretty good for the last year or so. We are even thinking I might be able to get back in to Turbo Kick/Turbo Jam which is a lot of cardio kicboxing. Excited!

Awesome workouts Angie! I still haven’t used my personal trainer (well other than during her working time at the gym when she gets interrupted 18 million times! lol). I don’t know what I want to focus on with her yet. Glad to hear you are liking having a personal trainer!

      Thanks Tishia!

Hopefully by now you have used your personal trainer. She should be telling you what you need to focus on but don’t be afraid to tell her your goals and then she should set up your training according to that. I just made my 1st PT payment last weekend and phew it was a doozy but so worth it. ha ha
