Sometimes You Just Have To Work Around It

Disclosure: This post may contain referral/affiliate links.

2.5 lb. Weights

Pretty decent week!  Other than having some various issues with my left wrist and knees (I feel like I’m falling apart), I am getting through my workouts.  Talked to my trainer Scott about some of the issues and he has been really great at working around them.  I really want to kick it but I know I have to watch myself.  I’m still keeping up with good cardio and want to do more core work during the week too.  We are going to take it really easy on lower body work until after the race due to the knee issues so that nothing worse happens.  Sounds like a plan.  Here is what I accomplished this week.

Monday- Day off

Tuesday-

*Pilates
Time: 1 hr

Wednesday-

*Spin class
Time: 1 hr

Thursday-

*Treadmill run/walk
Time: 25 min.
Miles: 1.73

*Personal training (lower body/core)
Time: 30 min.

Friday-

*Personal training (upper body/core)
Time: 30 min.

Saturday-

*Walk outside
Time: 1 hr. 36 min
Miles: 5.11

Sunday-

*Spin class
Time: 1 hr

This upcoming week starts a pretty crazy workout schedule but I am going to be cautious to not overdo it.  Kev and I talked about how to keep up with our half marathon walk training as the weather starts to get worse (cold, windy, snowy, etc.) and we are going to take it day by day.  For the first time, I can say that I know I can walk this half marathon if I had to do it tomorrow (but don’t get me wrong it would be a struggle and not easy at all).  I’m not going to stress about it though and walking in bad weather is not something we are going to do.  So there you go!

How did your workouts go?

Sounds like a great week of workouts! And I love your approach to not stress over it. It will probably make your training more effective, because you won’t be putting too much pressure on it. 🙂

Good luck with your workouts and weather, Angie!

Weather has been ok in Finland (except it’s gray and dark and a bit rainy). I have done a lot of walks lately, since I got that pedometer.

Thanks! Just read your post about the pedometer. Sounds cool.

Yes, the weather just adds another fun element to deal with, but I am sure you’ll do great. I had to be careful not to over-train in this morning’s workout because I am running the Hot Chocolate 15K in Chicago on Saturday. I am going to need hot chocolate afterwards since it’s supposed to be 45 degree high! Good luck with your training. Layer up!

Thank you, Allison! Sounds like a fun race in Chicago. Are you from the area? We are out in the NW burbs. Will most likely be walking our last long walk tomorrow due to weather predictions around here. Good luck with your race. You ROCK!

I’m jealous that you are taking personal training, and are able to get in fitness classes! I have really been pushing my gym workouts going M-F and this week I started what I call ‘double dipping’ and trying to go twice to the gym 2-3 times a week.

Krista, I got lucky when it came to personal training. It’s still expensive but it was a great deal too. And the reason we joined this gym is because of the many spin classes and others available. Such a great class list. Oh and they have a hot tub and pool which is nice.

As for double dipping, I think I’ll be doing that after I recover from the half marathon. I’ll do workouts at home on gym days so that should work and help get me back into the groove.
