Feeling a bit defeated lately. My food choices have not been the greatest and I haven’t been enjoying my workouts so I have not done as much as normal. As I have mentioned before, there have been some issues at the gym and we are looking to move to a new one. The only thing that stinks is that I have to hang around the old one until my personal training contract is up or I have to pay 50% to get out of it (and it’s dragging me down!). Don’t get me wrong, I really like my trainer but I just want to get back into a workout groove. It’s times like these that I dream of having a home gym and not be part of the gym drama. The ultimate thing would be to set up our garage as a home gym and find spin/cycle classes that we can pay to go to a few times a week. We are out in the NW burbs (Chicago) so I have not had any luck finding places that just offer spin classes. Everyone says we should open our own but can you imagine the cost of that especially when it comes to insurance? HA!
Time to move on…..
The one thing I am excited about lately is getting into boxing. I really enjoy it and am so excited to learn more about the new Biggest Loser trainer, Cara Castronuova. I have been watching some videos on boxing and want to learn more. I was researching more gyms in the area as we have not yet made a final decision and one really stood out although I would have to drive a ways to get there. Gold’s Gym looks and sounds like the perfect fit for someone interested in boxing and has a ton of class options. Decisions, decisions!
Anyway, last weeks workouts were definitely nothing to write home about but here they are anyway. It’s all about staying accountable right?

So far this week hasn’t fared much better. BUT I AM getting excited because my friend’s Kelly and Tishia are doing a special 48 Days To a Better Me challenge. There will be a daily podcast with fun interviews and guess who is going to be one of their guests? Yep, me! I’m sure this challenge is going to help me get back into the groove and hopefully inspire others to do the same. I’m not quite sure what my goal(s) is going to be but you’ll read all about it here on the blog and hear about it on their podcast. The podcast is not all about weight loss/fitness but will encompass a ton of things that might include business, family, parenting and other topics. Hope you decide to take part in the challenge. It will work for anyone!
You know, I’m so ready for Winter to be over and Spring to get here. I need to get outside more often and I really look forward to going on more long walks with Kevin. Maybe we’ll even be able to get bikes so we can ride outdoors too. And maybe a puppy or two? That would make me REALLY happy *wink*
Hope your week is off to a great start! And since I’m a bit behind posting this and it’s Tasty Tuesday check out this recipe for breakfast quesadillas. Yum!
What do you think about joining me in the 48 Days to a Better Me challenge?
Tishia - No More Plus Size says
Great post Angie! I know the burned out/defeated feeling all too well! It seems like since back in November when I went to Florida I’ve felt more defeated than anything. And that feeling just leads me to continue making excuses for eating bad/not exercising/gaining more weight. It’s a vicious cycle that sucks big time! lol
I’m looking forward to this 48 days to a better me challenge. I’m looking forward to following along on your journey over the 48 days 🙂 You’re still such an inspiration to me!
Angie says
Thank you Tishia! It can be a vicious cycle if we let it. Small steps lead to HUGE rewards. We have to remember that!
And I’m excited that the podcast is live. Had a great time chatting with you and Kelly.

I’m so in love with the boxing too! It’s so nice to change stuff up. Weight loss is sure hilly, tons of up and downs, literally, lol, wow that was clever 😉
Good for you, getting committed is half the battle!
Angie says
It’s definitely great to change things up. That helps me all the time! Thanks for the vote of confidence.
Lisa says
Boxing sounds like so much fun!
Angie says
Lisa, boxing is AMAZING! You can burn so many calories up in just 15-45 minutes. The feeling I get from boxing is really great too. I feel so strong!
Dani says
I once heard a really great quote “if you are what you eat then change is as close as your next meal.”
Keep your chin up girl!
Angie says
Great quote! Thanks Dani and welcome to the blog.

I have been feeling very defeated lately myself. It always seems to happen to me when I am just about to hit my stride too. Hopefully, we will both be able to get ourselves back up to par soon.
Oh a much happier note – Congrats on being one of Kelly and Tishia’s guests. That should be awesome!
Angie says
Sorry you have been feeling the same way, Natalie. Could be all the icky weather lately! I’m ready for sunshine and warm temps.
Oh and the podcast is live!
Bruce says
I’m with you on the gym thing. I recall joining our local gym for a 30 day trial, & it was the longest month of my life. I ended up with a Bowflex in my garage, but unfortunately with our long winters up here in Canada I don’t get as much use out of it as I would like as there’s really no room for it in the house.

Angie says
Hi Bruce, welcome to the blog. Our dream is to set up a home gym one day so that Bowflex sounds right up our alley.
kailani says
I’m so sorry that your gym isn’t working for you anymore. I stopped going to the gym because there were just too much people there that preferred to socialize than actually work out. Of course, once I stopped going I never went back.
I hope you find a gym that you like!
Angie says
Thanks Kailani! I sure hope the next gym will work out well for us. I know none of them will be perfect BUT they don’t deserve our business if they can’t keep promises, etc. And I think the socialization is a big thing at all gyms. It’s funny to be working out and watching how long some just sit and talk. Hilarious!
