Healthy Exercise: Treadmill Workouts
I really want to get back on the treadmill. I miss it because it’s a great workout if you don’t get bored easily. My favorite things to do on the treadmill are walk with weights and walk on an incline and I *might* like to throw a quick one minute run in there too. I like to change things up to make treadmill workouts a challenge for me. Walking indoors or out is a very healthy exercise. Make sure you have the right shoes and you’re good to go.
As many of you know, at the beginning of last year, I started training to run a half marathon in Jamaica. I had an extremely hard time with running both on the treadmill and outdoors (due to breathing issues). Well you can now read my story about how I completed my first half marathon just 3 months ago and what a struggle it was. BUT it was also an amazing accomplishment! I am pretty sure long distance races are not in the cards for me but never say never. There are a few races I would like to do for FUN (hello Disney Princess!) and I’m OK if we have to walk them. A treadmill at home could really help with the training for future races though.
Having a treadmill AT HOME would also
1) Save on gas driving to the gym (you know it’s over $3.50 a gallon here in IL)
2) Alleviate the need to fight for a treadmill at the gym
3) Allow me to easily jump on the treadmill any time of day
4) Give me the opportunity to turn my music up loud and not have to wear headphones
and lastly…
5) Finally give us the push to get this mess of a garage CLEARED out so we can remodel it and make it into a workout room (see evidence below)
Do you see this? Please have pity on me! This IS embarrassing!
If you have read my blog for any amount of time, you would know that it’s our dream to turn our garage into a fitness room complete with treadmill (hint hint), recumbent bike, 2 spin bikes, elliptical and a deluxe home gym like this and multi-functional trainer like this.
I’m in the process of writing my dream home gym wish list but those are a few of the goodies we want to include in our home gym. Do you have a fitness room at home? If so, what’s in it? Inquiring minds want to know.
Oh and a treadmill would make a great birthday gift for me too. This is no joke, my b-day is on April Fool’s Day. Good timing to enter to win a treadmill no?
Here are some treadmill workouts and tips that look very promising:

I did when I lived with my parents, but sadly, not enough room in my apartment. I use the one at the gym almost everyday though. I think I actually prefer going to the gym to work out.

I like the gym too but it would be more convenient if I had one at home in case I didn’t feel like going anywhere LOL

I would love to have a treadmill too. So great to stay on track with workouts. And would also love to run the Disney Princess one day too.

Yep a treadmill at home would be nice. We’ll find out who wins tonight. Disney Princess does sound like a fun one and since I’m not really into long distance I wouldn’t mind choosing races that are fun like that or travel to places you wouldn’t normally.
