Heading to the beach or on a trip where you need a bit more rugged camera?
Check out the Olympus Tough camera. We have had our Olympus underwater digital camera (Tough series) for about 5 years now and it’s still going strong. We love it but would ultimately like to upgrade at some point.
One of the Best Underwater Digital Cameras

There are a lot of underwater cameras out there, some more of an investment than others. We personally only need a compact one for what we want to capture.
Advantages to compact underwater digital cameras:
- Easy to travel with
- Costs Less
- Decent image and video quality
This particular underwater camera is waterproof to a depth of 50 ft. plus shockproof to 7 ft. It has a 3 inch flexible, flip LCD viewfinder and wide angle lens. Max resolution is 16 megapixels and the size of the underwater camera is 2.5 inches x 4.3 inches x 1.1 inches.
I love that it can withstand harsh weather. And it’s one of the best underwater cameras to capture the beauty under the ocean and sea. We love to snorkel and it has underwater shots so it’s perfect for us.
This one also has built in WiFi and GPS. You can even control and shoot the camera remotely from your smartphone. Boy they have really advanced.
I read a review that the battery life is short with the Tough series underwater cameras but I disagree, we can stay out in the water snorkeling for hours and it still has juice when we are done.
Don’t forget to add a camera float strap to your shopping cart as well. You don’t want to lose your precious camera underwater. It happens!
