Healthy Walt Disney Dining: Plan Ahead

Mickey and Minnie's Beach Ball Fun
Lately I have been thinking a lot about going to Disney World.  We have been seriously talking about going to participate in the Disney Princess Half Marathon in February 2012 like I mentioned in my b-day post.  That is less than a year away YIKES!  Of course my only goal will be to finish like I did the Reggae Marathon half but it’s more for the FUN.  I have heard that all along the course you can stop and get pictures with all the characters and race participants dress up too.  Oh yea you know I would so wear a tiara!  Would you like to join us?  It would be so much fun, don’t you think?

Walt Disney World Magic of Healthy Living

Kev and I love Disney World and the last time we went I had not started my healthy lifestyle (it’s been way too long).  I have recently heard about Disney’s Magic of Healthy Living and I love that they have put more focus on healthy food.

The key to healthy Walt Disney dining? Plan ahead when it comes to breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks.  Sure there will be some special treats thrown in here and there but you want to try to have at least a good idea as to what they have to offer when it comes to healthy foods.  Here is an awesome site that has menus for all the different Walt Disney World parks.  WOW!  And here are more great tips on how to stay on top of your healthy Walt Disney dining plan.

Eating Healthy In Walt Disney World

It’s really simple but good advice: look for fresh foods, not processed, watch your portion sizes and call ahead.

So glad that Disney is now focusing more on healthy living!

Disney has a great site where you can get healthy recipes and food, diet and fitness tips for the whole family.  Enjoy!

What is your #1 healthy Disney dining tip?

See you soon Mickey & Minnie,

P.S. Have you ever participated in the Disney Princess or Disney Marathon?

I would LOVE to participate in that race. It does look like so much fun.

And that’s really cool that Disney is focusing more on health. I know we’re hoping to take M sometime in the next couple of years for a day trip while we do our annual vacation in Daytona beach.

If you can really take pics with the characters along the way, that would definitely distract you from the pain of running! The race may only be less than a year away but it’s only a half marathon, if that’s an enticement to do it.

I ran my second Houston full marathon in January. Now I’m on the lookout for other places to do a marathon. I didn’t even know Disney had marathons until recently. I think that would be fun!

Welcome to the blog, Quincy. I was thinking it would be a nice distraction BUT then I heard that people wait in long lines to get those pictures so it might be a whole different struggle to be standing for that AND walking the full 13.1 miles. Last year I worked for about 11 months ‘training’ for the Reggae Marathon half in Jamaica so this should be OK.

Congrats to you for running your 2nd full marathon. That is AWESOME! I probably wouldn’t do halfs if it weren’t for the race having a fun vibe to it. I mean, I’m in Chicago and probably would not do it. Now I might have an interest in doing a half marathon in Hawaii!

I wish you good luck for that day in 2012 and hope this time you will complete the marathon. I am sure you will have a great fun over there. I am also very curious about “Magic of Healthy Living”. I wish the foods will be healthy and yet delicious.

Thank you Beverly. I don’t think I’ll ever have the interest to do a full marathon but I’m pretty sure we’ll complete a 2nd half marathon.

I sure hope to find healthy and delicious foods at Disney while there.

Thanks! I sure hope it’s in the cards for us to go for sure. No set plans but we’ll see as it gets closer, just about 9 more months to go LOL

Disney has changed so much. There used to never be any healthy options but it is so great you have the capabilities to plan ahead (and that you are pursing it); great post
