Want to reclaim your mornings, wake up and start your day without stress? Here are some tips to waking up peaceful, calm, and stress-free. Sounds good doesn’t it?
Avoid Checking Your Phone First Thing

Reaching for your phone as soon as you wake up can instantly put you in a reactive state. Emails, notifications, and news updates pull you into a cycle of stress before you’ve even had a chance to ease into the day. Instead, try this:
- Turn off notifications at night so you don’t wake up to a flood of alerts.
- Keep your phone on airplane mode for the first 30 minutes of your day.
- Use a traditional alarm clock to avoid the temptation of screen time.
Take a Few Moments to Meditate

Before jumping out of bed, take a few quiet moments to focus on your breath and center yourself. Meditation doesn’t have to be long or complicated—just a few minutes of mindfulness can help:
- Set an intention for the day and pray for yourself and others.
- Observe your thoughts without judgment.
- Create a sense of calm before diving into responsibilities.
Stretch or Do Gentle Morning Yoga

Your body holds tension from the previous day, and a simple stretch or yoga routine can help release it. Morning movement is great for:
- Improving circulation and energy levels.
- Easing any stiffness from sleep.
- Promoting a positive, relaxed mindset with mindful breathing.
- Even five minutes of gentle stretches can make a big difference in how you feel as you start your day.
Journal to Clear Your Mind

Journaling in the morning is a great way to process thoughts and reduce mental clutter. Unlike evening journaling, which often reflects on the past day, morning journaling is about setting the tone for what’s ahead. Try writing down any lingering thoughts or worries.
List three things you’re grateful for. Set an intention or goal for the day. Write down things you want to pray about.
Stream-of-consciousness journaling is particularly helpful—it allows you to pour out whatever is on your mind so you can start fresh. I also start my day with a daily devotion (after taking my supplements and drinking my greens).
Listen to Music That Soothes or Energizes You

Music has the power to influence your mood! Why not use it to set a positive tone for your morning? Some people find that soft, melodic tunes help them ease into the day. Others prefer upbeat music to boost their energy. What team are you on? Soft or upbeat? I’m the latter.
Here are a few tips:
- Try classical or nature sounds for a peaceful start.
- Play uplifting or motivational tracks to get in the right mindset. This is what I love to do!
- Avoid anything too jarring or stressful (like urgent news updates or notifications).
Make Your Mornings Intentional

The key to starting your day without stress isn’t about rigid routines—it’s about setting up habits and routines that work for you. Whether it’s stretching, journaling, or simply avoiding the phone first thing, find what helps you feel centered.
A mindful morning can create ripple effects throughout your day, leading to more productivity, focus, and inner peace. We could ALL use a little peace don’t you think?
By making small adjustments, you can transform your mornings from rushed and stressful to calm and empowering. Give it a try—you deserve to start your day with ease!
