Hotel 71, Chicago, IL
The Fitness Suite
We were treated to an overnight stay in a fitness suite at Hotel 71 in Chicago this past weekend in exchange for a review. I absolutely love the idea of a fitness suite and this one rocked my world. Hotel 71 in Chicago has two fitness suites. These were once junior suites converted to make the fitness suites. One has a treadmill and the other, the one we stayed in an elliptical.
Neither of the fitness suites face the river so there is no spectacular view (at least from our room there wasn’t). BUT if you head to the fitness center, you’ll see an amazing view of the river.
The suite was stocked with a yoga mat, 2 workout DVD’s, the elliptical and healthy snacks like fruit, natural and sparkling water, Gatorade, Clif bars and Power bars. They also had our favorite coffee maker, Keurig! Because you know I love my coffee.
The rates of the fitness suites vary depending on time of year, occupancy, etc. but you might pay approximately $279/night. The healthy snacks that I mentioned above are all included in the room rate.
This description, found on their website will make you want to book one of their fitness suites next time you are in Chicago,
This multifunctional suite measures 780 square feet and is ideal for guests who want to make the most of their time away from home. A separate parlor is equipped with either a treadmill or an elliptical trainer, so you can enjoy a cardio workout in the privacy of your own room. Parlor furnishings also include a spacious desk and ergonomic chair so you can conduct business in comfort at your leisure.
The Fitness Suite is similar to the Junior Suite and contains subzero refrigeration and a generous wet bar with a marble countertop. Fitness suites have one king size bed and feature urban views that replicate the authenticity of city living. The luxurious bathroom leaves nothing to be desired and beckons travelers with a large soaking tub and separate rainforest shower—the perfect finish to a brisk workout.
The fitness suite was perfect for me as someone who loves to get in a quick workout while traveling. I don’t mind using a hotel fitness center and the one at Hotel 71 was great, just check out the view sometime. But I will say that my choice would be a fitness suite every time. A very unique room for a hotel to have. I believe a lot more hotels will follow in the footsteps of Hotel 71 if they haven’t already.

this sounds awesome! I didn’t even know that they had fitness suites!
I had no clue either until they contacted me. All hotels need fitness suites or at least better fitness centers.
This sounds so great. I would love to stay at a suite like this. The atmosphere sounds wonderful and condusive to staying healthy when you are on the road.
It was fabulous. Wish more hotels had this option.
That sounds awesome! An elliptical in the room with healthy snacks provided. I did not have the same experience when I went on vacation last week in Myrtle Beach with my sister and her kids. The resort I was staying at had a gym so they said. I was excited to check it out the first day we got there. I was let down when I went to check it out. It had treadmills, bicycles, and a sorry excuse for a weight machine. That might have worked for someone else but I need weights for my current workout routine which focuses on weight training with HIIT cardio at the end of every workout. I decided to run on the beach a couple times instead which was real enjoyable, so I was still able to get in some exercise. Swimming a bunch in the ocean and pools almost everyday helped too.
It was awesome! Such a great experience. I’m disappointed a lot when it comes to hotel gyms. I wish a lot of them would really step it up when it comes to their fitness centers.
Now running on the beach and swimming in the ocean sounds great to me! So glad you were able to enjoy that.
