Eat a Rainbow of Fruits and Vegetables

Get More Servings of Fruits and Vegetables Into Your Day

This month I started focusing on getting more fruits and vegetables into my diet.  The goal is 5-7 servings of fruit/vegetables a day.

As of now, I am not doing that great.  Really need to focus on this. So thanks to the Holiday Bootie Buster challenge group, I am becoming more aware and they are challenging me to do better.

I was having some eye issue for a few months (left eye twitching) and started taking a woman’s daily multi vitamin.  Between that and my 1st pair of reading glasses, the twitching is pretty much non existent.  Thank goodness!  I will be challenging myself to get in more servings of fruits and vegetables a day throughout 2013.  Who is with me?

So the next step is to focus on more fruits and vegetables and better healthy eating habits.  That is always a work in progress but keeping a food journal is helping.

I have found some great tips from gals in a few of my fitness networks.  They show us how to get more daily servings and how much an actual serving is for various fruits and veggies.  We call these freggies over at the Holiday Bootie Buster challenge group.

My friend Elle shares specific info on servings and ways to add more freggies into your day.  This is perfect for those struggling like me to get in their fruits and vegetables on a daily basis.

My friend Jill has 10 tips on how to get daily servings of fruits and vegetables.

Here’s an article on sneaky ways to get more fruits and vegetables in your diet.

And look at all the gems I found in this post on literally how to eat a rainbow of fruits and vegetables.  It’s really on how to get kids to eat their fruits and veggies but us adults can learn a thing or two.

Here’s a great quote that I love

Go vegetable heavy. Reverse the psychology of your plate by making meat the side dish and vegetables the main course.

I keep a tally in a journal of how many fruits n veggies I eat. I strive for about 5-7/day. Good luck!

I’m thinking I need to keep a tally on my phone as I eat them. I’m also going for 5 to 7 servings a day.

Great post Angie. I find that it’s not so difficult to get the fruits in (sweet tooth that I have…), but the vegetables are more problematic.
I aim for one to two servings of veggies before lunch. I find if I start the day well, it ends well as well!

Hey, that Bobby Flay is pretty clever! Good idea for sure.

Thanks for the shout out… I hope you DO get in lots of colorful freggies … they are so good for us and really tasty as well.

I like to play the RAINBOW game… see how many colors you get in in one day.
