Travel to New York City NY
I’m going to be traveling to New York City, NY soon for a blogging conference. My friend Lynn from Traveling Low Carb and I will also be celebrating her birthday during our stay.
We would like tips and ideas on fun things to do while in New York City. We will have very limited time and no transportation but all input is welcome so I can plan out our days in advance.
We’ll be staying very close to Times Square and Central Park so please take that into consideration when suggesting fun things to do.
My first thoughts on interesting things to do in New York City include:
- Times Square
- 9/11 Memorial
- Empire State Building
- Central Park
- Broadway Show
- New York City Skyline at Night
- A special birthday dinner
- Radio City Music Hall
What are your thoughts on the above? If you have website links to share, please do. If you can suggest a variety of restaurants as well, we would appreciate it. Suggestions for restaurants with outdoor seating would be great. Obviously we won’t be able to do a ton but the more info I have, the better. And what we don’t get to see this trip, hopefully we’ll be able to return and do at a later date with our families.
Also, what can we expect the weather to be like in June? Is there anything else we need to know?
I’m still looking at flights and will most likely be flying into LaGuardia as it looks to be the most affordable from Chicago and closest to the hotel. Traveling to new places is always exciting but a bit nerve racking when you don’t know the area. Wish us luck!

I love NY! One of my most favorite places to visit – but I wouldn’t want to live there, LOL! Check out Carnegie Deli for super fantastic food. And you’ll have to go to New Jersey to see that famous skyline, unfortunately. You might see it in the cab from the airport, I guess. Last time I was there we really enjoyed taking the ferry out to Ellis Island. Didn’t stop at the Statue of Liberty, but that might have been interesting as well.
Enjoy your trip, and take lots of pictures!

The weather in June can be variable. Bring a sweater for going out at night, but it’s been in the 80s daily and it’s only May 21. NY in June is the most beautiful place in the world, imo. You will love it. You must check out Greenwich Village and spend at least a half hour in Washington Square Park, there is so much going on there.
