Day 1: Physical Therapy

Disclosure: This post may contain referral/affiliate links.

Physical TherapyTuesday was my first day at physical therapy. My husband recommended Natalie because he had PT with her for his neck. I’m glad I went to her.

We went over all my aches and pains lol and what has been going on with me for the past year or so. Hopefully she and I together can work on the issues. I would love for the numbness in my right thigh and swelling in my right leg/foot to go away.

She gave me exercises to do and I am on a strict 30 minute quick walk break down the hall and back from my home office during the day. I have been setting the timer on my phone. Those 30 min. go SO fast. Geesh! This timer thing is something I am now going to use as part of my business in addition to the walk breaks. What can I accomplish in 30 minutes? Hmmm

I have 4 exercises for the next week:

  • Trunk Stability – Isometric Abdominal
  • Hip/Knee – Stretching Hop Flexor
  • Foam rolling ITB/Quad- – this one will be the front of leg and outside of leg (ouch)
  • Lower Extremity Hip Abduction on my side

I will be doing 1-2 sessions of these a day depending on the routine. I’ll do it morning and evening. They had a fun little gym area where she showed me what foam rolling techniques I needed to do. She was pretty happy that I knew how to do many of the exercises already.

All thanks to a few personal trainers I had a couple years ago (one at a gym we used to go to and one online). I miss having a personal trainer (although I like my Team Live Lean membership even though I am not doing their workouts yet). Maybe one day I can hire a personal trainer to come to our home gym. Think health insurance would cover that? LOL

I digress.

Currently we are thinking I might have too much pressure on nerves that is resulting in the numbness. We have to work on my hip and muscle length and spinal stability. I do have Meralgia Paresthetica, neuropathy, a pinched nerve and some arthritis along with the numbness and tingling. Going back to the basics I think will help me lose weight and start feeling better too. I am a mess.

Natalie is pretty booked up but they called to let me know that she had an opening Thursday (today). So I grabbed it and will write more in another post.

I’ll be logging my 30 min. walk breaks, the exercises she has me doing and my personal workout routine. Guess I should just start logging my food too.

Have you ever had physical therapy? Did it help you?
