Ever heard of broken heart syndrome?
With it being American Heart Month, I thought I would bring some attention to this. I have heard of spouses dying soon after the other spouse and always thought that was so sad but really never knew that it had a name.
Mayo Clinic says, “Broken heart syndrome is a temporary heart condition that’s often brought on by stressful situations”. You can read the symptoms, causes, risk factors, etc. over on their site.
Is broken heart syndrome real?
According to the American Heart Association, it is. Read more to find out the breakdown of a broken heart. Women are more likely to experience it than men. And it can be brought on by stress.
It’s important to learn how to recognize and manage stress in your life so you have less of a chance of experiencing broken heart syndrome. Here are a few of my favorite ways to manage stress.
Stress Management Techniques
- Think and Be Positive
- Get enough sleep
- Exercise
- Listen to music
- Spend time with your pets
