Welcome November 2010

Happy November!
Reflection of Fall Leaves in Pond, New England

It’s a busy month for me as we get ready for the Reggae Marathon half marathon.  I’m excited about it BUT I’m also happy that it will be over.  It’s been a challenge since January going from running to walking this thing.  I do want to say that I don’t dislike running BUT I’m just not able to do it outdoors.  I will keep trying and maybe one day run a 5k but at this point I’m going to be happy to get back to workouts that I LOVE!  Running is a great sport!  And I give all you runners out there a big thumbs up for accomplishing everything you do.  So amazing!  Speaking of running, World Run Day is this Sunday as is the New York City marathon. Huge running weekend!  My Jamaican Reggae Marathon friends are in NYC and having a blast.

Tomorrow looks like it will be the last nice day to do a big training walk but we’ll grab as many nice weekend days as we can until the race.  If nothing else, the treadmill will do.  Not too much longer now!  But I can finally say that I know I CAN do it.  If I made 10.63 miles, I can do 13.1 RIGHT?

Oh and I have new shoes YEA

I had Brooks before but went with ASICS this time.  And get this, I am in a men’s shoe ha ha  But I love the fit so far and look forward to trying these bad boys out tomorrow on our long walk.  Gotta break them in you know!  I needed a bit more support in the ankle as my feet roll and I have just been having some pretty painful knee issues.  I really love The Running Depot.  They have been so helpful over the last year and I can’t wait to get my 13.1 sticker LOL

I had a goal for November to join in on the 21 days before Thanksgiving challenge with Leslie Sansone’s Walk Club but with all the training and other workouts I’m doing, I am just going to follow along and cheer everyone else on.  I can’t wait to get back to my Walk Away the Pounds workouts though so maybe we’ll have a challenge here on the blog come Feb. if anyone is interested.

And last thing for today…..we have a winner

With use of Random.org, the winner of the Bender Ball giveaway is Carrie Symes.  Congrats Carrie!  I sent you an email.
Hope ya’ll have a great weekend!

I just read what you wrote “eating bird foods blog, that you would like to move Jamaica some day. I am from Jamaica, so your statement made me smile. You will do great on the upcoming Marathon. Have a great weekend.

Great shoes! I absolutely love ASICS. They are the one shoe that seems a perfect fit for my feet. Best of luck with your big training walk!

Glad to hear you like ASICS, Jodi! So far I do like them but breaking them in is never any fun. At least I did it with enough time before the race. And our walks this weekend went well. Didn’t do as much as we wanted but still did a decent amount.

Looking forward to hearing how the 1/2 marathon goes Angie (and of course how much fun you have in Jamaica!). You’ll do fine.

I know what you mean about the running thing. I don’t think there will ever come a day that I’m going to be able to do it as one of my main exercises. I’m still not able to run more that 1-2 minutes at a time on the treadmill. And as for running outside…hahaha yeah forget that! It hurts my shins and knees way too much!

Thank you so much, Tishia! We are really looking forward to the race and vacation.

As for running, I have been trying since Jan. and still can only do about 3 min. before I feel like I’m going to die LOL (that is indoors on the treadmill too). I really give kudos to those runners out there. They are awesome!
