It’s been a hot minute since I have really checked in with a health and fitness goals update here on the blog. So here I am to do that today and to set some goals for the next few months to the end of the year.
Are you with me?
I feel like a broken record but as many of you know, I had Covid pneumonia back in 2021 and ended up in the ICU. Since then there have been ups and downs with my health, mostly ups though, so that’s a good thing.
I fully believe the reasons there are more ups than downs is because of my mindset. I make it a point not to bring it up too much because negative vibes breed more of the same. What we put our focus on expands. So the less I talk about the ‘negative’ feelings, the BETTER I will feel. And I do. It’s SO true.
People always ask me how I can be so positive in the face of adversity and this is exactly why. I only think of the good and don’t speak much about the ‘bad’. It’s really that simple! Now don’t get me wrong, I also have negative thoughts at times but I try as quickly as possible to turn them around and not talk about it.
It’s not useful for me to rehash things over and over. I could tell you daily that my knee hurts or that I can’t breathe or yada yada but YOU don’t need to hear it.
I’m here to inspire you to live your best life and that’s not the way to go about it. But here’s the update you wanted. Short and sweet.
An Update on Me
Yes, I still have breathing issues especially out in cold weather (I am not looking forward to winter ha) and walking up stairs made even worse now that I have gained back weight. It really stinks being addicted to food. It’s SO hard to control but it MUST change. In addition to the breathing struggles (made even worse the last few weeks with the air quality here in IL), I have lost focus and concentration.
I continue to have issues with my right knee popping (nothing to do with Covid) and I have also been dropping things and not able to grasp things with my right hand but that could very well be carpal tunnel.
I have been wearing these to try to help with the hand pain. Who knows, maybe it’s all remnants of Covid. I have trigger finger pretty bad too (and wear this). I do know that things can only get better now that I am getting my act together and starting to focus on my health and fitness. Again.
What’s Changed?
This past December, while on vacation, I made some difficult business decisions. We decided that we would no longer be promoting Beachbody (now BODi) as coaches. Don’t get me wrong, we still love the company and what they stand for but I had so much going on with my virtual assistant business. I also wanted to get back to my blog. So here I am.
Speaking of BODi, I sure do miss my team and all that was with BB. A super fun company to partner with when it comes to health and fitness goals that’s for sure. But things change…for now.
Update as of November 2024: BODI now has an affiliate program so if you need anything let me know. I’m not currently using the products but I still stand behind them and hope to get back to them soon.
I was burning the candle at both ends and something had to give. We still have friends in the company if you are interested in the fitness programs or products. Feel free to reach out and I’ll connect you with someone. Looks like the spin bikes are on a big sale right now too. We love both of ours.
Monthly Health and Fitness Challenge Group
I still have my long time monthly health & fitness challenge group that I will be posting in. We will also discuss self-care and other healthy living topics. Recently we have started focusing more on self-care! My knee is feeling much better since falling while camping (face palm here lol). So I have slowly hopped back on the bike and rebounder. I have also used the recumbent bike a few times and want to start adding in treadmill walks too.
Once you stop doing something you did almost daily, it’s REAL hard to get back into it. I do have some fit goals along with diet and self-care goals I will share below.
I’ll be focusing on food portions plus I would like to give intermittent fasting a go again at some point. I was doing that before Covid along with a low carb diet. This time, I doubt I’ll be following any sort of ‘diet’ and just focus on eating more whole foods. I REALLY need to get my veggies and protein in.
Wait until you see a recent ‘recipe’ I made. If you follow me on social, you probably saw the reel I made with the sourdough bread and delicious toppings. I’ll share it here on the blog soon.
My Healthy Living Goals: Health and Fitness
Fitness – daily movement started this month with cycling, rebounder and recumbent bike. Adding the treadmill and BODi workouts soon.
Diet – healthy eating, intermittent fasting, no ‘diet’
Self-Care – dry brushing, sauna, hot tub, home facials/masks, lymphatic massage
When it comes to workouts, I want to build back up to 2-3 BODi (formerly Beachbody) workouts a week. The other days do rebounding and cycling. For now, I’m going to keep it simple and share as I go.
I need to spend more time in the home gym exercising because it always makes me feel SO good. Kev has joined me on the spin bike this month and will also be getting back to a BODi workout. I think he’s going to do LIIFT4 again. I’ll probably go back and do some of the workouts in Let’s Get Up, the dance program by Shaun T.
Please share your healthy living goals below in the comments. Would you like accountability? Be sure to join us in my private group. It’s free.
